Quantum Cryptography

This programme is rather similar to that of Quantum Computers. Owing to the enormous amount of information which a noiseless quantum-mechanical system can store, certain tasks may be carried out, using such systems, at fantastically high speeds. For example the product of two enormous prime numbers may be factorized in milliseconds, whereas the same task would take weeks on the most powerful CRAY computer. (Give a Web page.)

The programme is doomed to fail for roughly the same reason as Quantum Computers. Noiseless QM systems are a myth because the zeropoint noise is present even at zero degrees Kelvin. Many banks and military organizations have been persuaded to fund research in this area. It will be interesting to see their reactions when they discover how some scientists have duped them -- and themselves at the same time!
